At Groove, we believe that a strong technical foundation is the key to a dancer’s success. Our technique classes are designed to challenge and inspire your child, helping them develop the skills they need to grow into confident and versatile dancers. Each class is structured to build upon fundamental principles, improve body awareness, and foster artistic expression. always providing a supportive, positive and age appropriate environment where dancers can take risks, make mistakes, and celebrate their progress, all while building a lifelong love for dance.

ballet
Focus will be on core body strength and the beginning stages of classical ballet technique. Students will acquire knowledge in the basic vocabulary of ballet . Dancers will develop the ability to co-ordinate simple movements to produce a combination of steps within the range of their own physical capacity. Students’ performances will show a developing spatial awareness, sensitivity to music and an ability to work with others. Girls will be asked to wear black leotards, pink tights, pink ballet shoes and hair in a bun. Boys will be asked to wear a white t-shirt, black bike shorts or light-weight sweatpants, white socks and black ballet shoes.
tap
As a percussive art form, tap dancing is a unique blend of music and movement that offers incredible developmental benefits. In this class, we focus on the fundamental movements, footwork, and rhythms that are the building blocks of great tap dancing. Dancers will learn to articulate the sounds they make with their feet, building speed, clarity, and a strong sense of musicality. By creating rhythms and patterns, students not only develop enhanced coordination and fine motor skills, but also improve their focus, memory, and cognitive function. The class provides a safe space for children to express themselves, build confidence, and grow a deeper appreciation for this rhythmic art form.


jazz
This class is designed to help students master the foundational skills that define this high-energy style, including isolations, turns, leaps, and jumps, all while exploring the rich history and various sub-genres of jazz. Through a structured warm-up, center floor exercises, and fun, engaging choreography, dancers will improve their flexibility, strength, and coordination. We will incorporate elements of classic Broadway jazz, contemporary jazz, and jazz funk styles to give students a well-rounded understanding of this versatile dance form. As dancers progress, the class will evolve with them, introducing more intricate combinations and complex choreography to continually challenge their abilities and foster their growth.

This beautiful, expressive style blends the fluid motions of ballet with the dynamic energy of jazz, teaching dancers to interpret music and tell a story through their movements. students will focus on developing a strong technical foundation, including ballet and jazz elements, to achieve grace, flexibility, and control. We’ll work on floor progressions, leaps, turns, and choreography that emphasizes musicality and emotional expression. This class provides a safe space for young dancers to explore their artistry, build self-confidence, and learn to truly feel the music.


contemporary
explore a genre of dance that is ever-evolving and pushes creative boundaries. Blending elements of modern, jazz, and ballet, contemporary dance encourages dancers to find their own unique voice through movement. students will explore foundational contemporary techniques, focusing on floor work, dynamic partnering, and improvisation. We will emphasize proper body alignment, breath, and spatial awareness to help dancers build strength, flexibility, and control. This class is designed to help students connect with their emotions, unlock their creativity, and explore new ways of moving in order to foster their artistic development.
hip hop
learn dynamic and expressive moves in a high-energy, positive environment. hip hop is an exciting way for kids to connect with music and express themselves. explore foundational techniques along with the most current choreography. We focus on building a strong understanding of rhythm, musicality, and personal style. dancers find their own unique groove while learning core skills. Hip hop is more than just a dance style—it’s an opportunity to build confidence, find your own voice, and learn how to move with power and purpose.


acro
a unique blend of dance and gymnastics that helps dancers develop strength, flexibility, and control. Acro is an exciting way for students to learn how to seamlessly integrate gymnastic skills into their dance movements. explore foundational acro techniques, including proper body placement, conditioning, and safe execution of tricks. We focus on improving flexibility and building strength through targeted exercises that prepare the body for skills like handstands, cartwheels, and bridges. As dancers progress, the class will evolve with them, introducing more complex tumbling passes and partner work to continually challenge their abilities.
